Future Choices: Access Accountancy Year 12 Work Experience - London 27 July 2026
08 PAID WORK EXPERIENCE Monday 27th July – Wednesday 29th July from 9:30-16:00
The programme offers students hands-on exposure to accountancy and professional services through activities, business simulations, and workshops. Previous participants have highlighted how the experience broadened their understanding of the sector and supported successful applications into roles at Forvis Mazars, including audit traineeships.
Applications are open to Year 12 students completing A-levels, BTECs, or equivalent qualifications in England, and Highers or Advanced Highers in Scotland. In line with its commitment to social mobility, the programme particularly encourages applicants from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, including students from state schools, those eligible for free school meals, first-generation university applicants, and students from lower socio-economic households.
Applicants should be curious, motivated, and keen to explore a career in accountancy, develop employability skills, and gain experience that could support progression into an apprenticeship.
Access Accountancy is a partnership of over 25 professional services firms aiming to improve access to the accountancy profession, with Forvis Mazars as a proud partner.
The recruitment process involves three stages: an application form, a short online assessment (around 5 minutes, no preparation required), and a video interview with the Early Careers team. The assessment is designed to be inclusive and adaptive to different thinking styles.
Applicants may apply for one location and one intake only.

Female and interested in Computer Science

The Women in Computer Science programme is a sustained programme running over six months that gives female and non-binary students in Year 12 (S5 in Scotland/Year 13 in Northern Ireland) an insight into what studying Computer Science at university is like. It doesn’t require any previous experience studying Computer Science and would also be well suited to those with an interest in Mathematics. It is run by the University of Cambridge Department of Computer Science and Technology in partnership with our Women@CL network, which supports women and non-binary people in this Department.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria are as follows:
- You identify as a women or as non-binary
- You attend a school that does not charge fees
- You are in Year 12 (England/Wales) / S5 (Scotland) / Y13 (Northern Ireland)
- You must be studying for any of the following:
- A Level Mathematics
- International Baccalaureate Higher Level Mathematics ‘Analysis and Approaches’
- Scottish Higher in Maths with the intention to study Advanced Highers in Maths
- An equivalent qualification

hese Foundation modules are designed to develop your problem solving skills and provide an introduction to solving STEP (and STEP-like) problems. Most of the questions are taken from old STEP 1 papers, with some STEP 2 questions appearing in later modules. The assignments also introduce mathematical ideas beyond the syllabus with lots of opportunities for extra reading.
A lot of these assignments only require GCSE or AS knowledge (though they will ask you to use it in unusual ways!), and the first 10 to 15 Assignments are aimed at year 12 students. If you think there is a possibility that you will be sitting STEP 2 or STEP 3 in the summer of year 13 then we strongly advise that you start working on these assignments in year 12, or in the summer before you start year 13.
There are 25 Foundation modules, and the intention is that you work through them in order. There are also three collections of STEP questions (one each for pure, mechanics and statistics) which can be found after Assignment 25. Once you feel ready, you can move onto the 21 STEP 2 and STEP 3 modules.

- Exeter Plus is an Access and Outreach programme at Exeter College, Oxford for high-achieving Year 12 pupils from state schools who are interested in applying to selective universities including the University of Oxford. The 6‑month programme begins with an introduction to Oxford and Exeter College, through to university applications and subject spotlights. Apply by 12th Jan.
